It has to be learned before it can be used:
# Get a [[sealed lifesap codex]], a rare drop from [[Valkor]].
# Take it to [[Helenor]], outside Valkor's cave, who deciphers it for 1,000,000 coins.
# Read the resulting [[lifesap codex]]. The prayer is unlocked permanently, and the codex is used up.

A deciphered codex can be traded, so the prayer can also be bought from other players.
